AP High Court Civil Judge Recruitment 2026 Announced

The High Court of Andhra Pradesh has released a notification for the recruitment of Civil Judge (Senior Division) posts. This recruitment is being done through a Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for accelerated promotion.

Eligibility Criteria

This recruitment is for existing Civil Judge (Junior Division) officers in the Andhra Pradesh State Judicial Service.

• Candidates must have completed not less than 3 years of service as Civil Judge (Junior Division) by the end of 31st March 2026.

• Officers facing disciplinary charges or undergoing punishment for irregularities in their duties are not eligible.
• Officers found to be of doubtful integrity in any year are also ineligible.

Application Fee

The application and examination fee is as follows:

• Open Category/EWS/BC Category: Rs. 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only)

Salary / Pay Scale

The scale of pay for the post of Civil Judge (Senior Division) is Rs. 1,11,000 to Rs. 1,63,030.

Selection Process

The selection process involves multiple stages:

1. Screening Test: A computer-based screening test may be conducted for 100 marks (100 multiple-choice objective type questions). Candidates securing 40% and above will be shortlisted for the written examination in a 1:10 ratio of vacancies. Marks from the screening test are not counted for the final merit list.
2. Written Examination: This consists of three papers, each carrying 100 marks.
   • Paper-I: Civil Laws
   • Paper-II: Criminal Laws
   • Paper-III: English (Translation and Essay writing) - 40 marks for translation (English to Telugu and Telugu to English) and 60 marks for essay writing on legal subjects. Candidates need 40% in each part of Paper-III. Marks from Paper-III are not counted for eligibility for viva voce or selection.
3. Minimum Marks for Written Examination: Candidates must secure at least 55% marks in Paper-I and Paper-II, and at least 60% marks in aggregate in the written examination to be eligible for the Viva Voce.
4. Viva Voce: This is for 50 marks. Successful candidates from the written examination will be called for Viva Voce in a 1:3 ratio of vacancies.
5. Final Selection: Marks secured in Paper-I, Paper-II, and Viva Voce will be considered for final selection. Candidates must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate in the Written Examination and Viva Voce for selection.

• Certificate evidencing date of Birth/SSC
• Law Degree certificate
• Other relevant certificates
• Community certificate issued by the Competent Authority (if claiming reservation under SC and ST category)
• Service Certificate in the cadre of Civil Judge (Junior Division) issued by the Competent Authority
• Appointment order of Civil Judge (Junior Division)

All original certificates must be produced for verification on the day of the Viva Voce.

Important Instructions

• No TA and DA will be paid for appearing in any stage of the selection process.
