BRIC ILS Recruitment 2026: Walk-in Interview for Project Scientist, SRF/SPA, and Technician Positions

The BRIC-Institute of Life Sciences (BRIC ILS) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, has announced recruitment for several project-based positions. This is an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. Applications are invited for the posts of Project Scientist – I, Senior Research Fellow / Senior Project Associate, and Technician.

The recruitment is for a project titled “Exploring the marine ecosystems for novel bioresources with human health and industrial significance." The project duration is up to March 31, 2027, or until the project's completion, subject to annual performance reviews.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the specified educational qualifications and age limits for each post.

Essential Qualifications: Doctoral degree in science or Master's degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent.

Desirable Qualifications: PhD in any field of life sciences with experience in bioinformatics and analysis of NGS datasets. Candidates with experience in the above field and publications in peer-reviewed journals are encouraged to apply.

Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. / M. Tech / M. Pharm. / M.V.Sc. or equivalent qualification in Life Sciences or allied subjects (Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Virology / Bioinformatics / Computational Biology / Microbiology, etc.) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks. Candidates must also have 2 years of research experience.

Preference: Candidates qualified in national-level entrance tests (NET/GATE/GPAT). For non-NET/GATE candidates, the fellowship will be applicable as per DST guidelines.

Desirable Qualifications: More than two years of research experience in mammalian cell culture, drug screening, bioprospecting, metabolite extraction, and mass-spectrometry.

Essential Qualifications: BSc. or 3 years diploma in Science, Engineering, and Technology.

Desirable Qualifications: Experience with Linux operating system, data analysis.

Age Limit

The upper age limit for the positions is as follows:

• Project Scientist – I: 35 years
• Senior Research Fellow / Senior Project Associate: 35 years
• Technician: 30 years

Relaxation in age will be given as per Government of India (GOI) guidelines.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on a walk-in interview. Candidates will be interviewed by a selection committee. The decision of the Director of BRIC-ILS regarding candidate selection will be final. No further correspondence will be entertained.
