CMWSSB Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Announced

The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has released a notification for the engagement of Apprentices for the year 2026-27. This recruitment is for Graduate Apprentices and Technician (Diploma) Apprentices. The training will be for a period of one year under the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act 1973.

Vacancy Details

A total of 108 apprentice positions are available. The vacancies are divided into two categories:

• Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering: 52 Posts
• Electrical and Electronics Engineering: 24 Posts

• Civil Engineering: 10 Posts
• Electrical and Electronics Engineering: 22 Posts

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be residents of Tamil Nadu and have passed their qualifying examination during the years 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or May 2026.

• A full-time Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by a Statutory University in a relevant discipline.
• A full-time Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by an Institution empowered to grant such degree by an Act of Parliament in a relevant discipline.
• Graduate examination of Professional Bodies recognized by the State Government or Central Government as equivalent to the above.

• A full-time Diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by a State Council or Board of Technical Education established by a State Government in a relevant discipline.
• A full-time Diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by a University in a relevant discipline.
• A Diploma in Engineering and Technology granted by an Institution recognized by the State Government or Central Government as equivalent to the above.

Important Note: Candidates must upload their B.E / B.Tech/ Diploma Provisional Certificate or Consolidated Mark Sheet. The percentage of marks in the Graduate / Diploma examination is mandatory. Candidates must enter the percentage of marks in the NATS portal as "% of marks / CGPAx10". Candidature will not be considered if the percentage of marks is not furnished.

Age limit will be followed as per Apprenticeship Rules. Specific age is not mentioned in the official notification.

Stipend

The monthly stipend for apprentices is as follows:

• Graduate Apprentices: ₹12,300/- per month
• Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: ₹10,900/- per month

Selection Process

The Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR) will prepare a shortlist of candidates based on the percentage of marks obtained in their qualifying examination (Graduate or Diploma). Shortlisted candidates will be informed via their registered email ID. They will then need to appear for Certificate Verification at CMWSSB, Chennai.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the certificate verification.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal. Candidates need to register on the NATS portal first. The application process varies slightly based on whether you are a new user or already registered.

3. Complete the application form to generate a unique 12-digit Enrollment Number.

• BC/MBC candidates claiming OBC (Non-creamy layer) must provide an OBC(NCL) certificate in the approved format.
• CMWSSB has no obligation to offer employment to apprentices after the training period.
• Incomplete or erroneous online applications received after the due date will be rejected.
• Beware of touts; the Board is not responsible for any such incidents.
