Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following educational and other qualifications:

A postgraduate degree, OR a bachelor's degree with one of the following as a principal subject:

• Advanced Statistics

The degree must be from a university established/incorporated under a State Act in India or a UGC-recognised institution. This qualification is assessed as on 23/09/2026.

Basic computer application knowledge as prescribed under Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967. Candidates without this certificate may apply but must produce it before appointment, or their selection will be cancelled.

Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both.

Must be a citizen of India, or possess the nationality specified under Rule 7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules.

Age Limit

As on 23/09/2026:

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 37 years

Age relaxation is provided for certain categories as per rules, with a maximum age limit of 45 years for most relaxations.

Candidates already in Gujarat Government service may also get age relaxation as per the 1967 recruitment rules.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates will receive a fixed monthly salary for the first five years. After this period, they may become eligible for the regular pay scale (as per the 7th Pay Commission), subject to satisfactory service.

Application Fee

The application fee must be paid online. A transaction fee may apply in addition to the exam fee.

The fee must be paid by 26 September 2026 (11:59 PM). The fee is refunded only to candidates who appear for the examination.

Selection Process

Selection for both Research Assistant and Statistical Assistant posts will be through a single-stage Computer Based Response Test (CBRT) or OMR-based objective (MCQ) competitive examination.

The exam will have one paper divided into two parts:

• Part-A (90 marks, 90 questions): Reasoning & Data Interpretation (30), Quantitative Aptitude (30), Constitution of India, Current Affairs & Gujarati-English Comprehension (30).
• Part-B (120 marks, 120 questions): Subject-related questions based on educational qualification - Statistics (30), Official Statistics (30), Mathematics (30), Economics (30).

Total: 210 questions, 210 marks, duration of 3 hours (180 minutes).

Negative Marking: 1/4 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Minimum Qualifying Standard: 40% in Part-A and 40% in Part-B, independently, for all categories.
