Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has announced a recruitment drive for the post of Consultant / Experimental Test Pilot (Fixed Wing) on a contract basis. This position is based at the Transport Aircraft Division in Kanpur.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Nationality: Indian National / Male.
• Educational Qualification: Must have successfully graduated as a Test Pilot on Fixed Wing Aircraft from ASTE, IAF or any recognized foreign Test Pilot School.
• Flying Experience:
  • Must be from the Flying Branch of Indian Armed Force / DRDO / NAL.
  • Must have more than 2000 hours of total flying experience.
  • Must possess ATPL with endorsement on any Aircraft operated at HAL Transport Aircraft Division, Kanpur (Do 228/H-228/HS 748).
  • Proven experience in developmental flight test programs of fixed wing aircraft as a test pilot. Candidates with more than 2 years of Test Flying experience will be preferred.
  • Experience of instructional flying at Basic or Intermediate flying stage is desirable.
  • Medical category should be A1G2 / A2G2 (P) or its equivalent with no restriction on flying Fixed Wing Aircraft with Ejection Seats.
  • Experience on Flight Testing of modern platforms or technology demonstrator prototypes for prospective higher generation platforms is desirable.
• Skills: Good communication skills (oral and written), sound conceptual and analytical abilities, good technical knowledge in fixed wing aerodynamics, digital flight control systems, sensors, EW systems, and operational aspects. Familiarity with Military & Civil Airworthiness requirements is also required.

The upper age limit is 61 years as on 01.10.2026.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be paid a Monthly Consolidated Remuneration. This will comprise of last drawn Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance, and House Rent Allowance. Additionally, Conveyance Allowance, Canteen Allowance, and telephone charges will be provided. Flying-related Special Allowances, such as Flying Allowance, Test Pilot Allowance, Hazardous Flying Allowance, Civil Licence Pay (as applicable), Flying Kit Maintenance Allowance, and Pre Flight Meal Allowance (including Insurance Coverage / Aircrew Clothing), as applicable to regular Pilots, will also be paid.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be done through an Interview by a Selection Committee.
