HPSC has announced 45 vacancies for the post of Food Safety Officer (Group-B). The distribution of posts is as follows:

Eligibility Criteria and Qualification

Candidates must meet the following qualifications as on 19.10.2026:

Educational Qualification:

  • A Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree from a recognized university or institution in one of the following groups of disciplines:
    • Food Technology group: Food Engineering; Food Engineering and Technology; Food Processing and Preservation; Food Processing Technology; Food Technology and Management; Food Biotechnology; Food Plant Operations Management; Food Process Engineering and Management; Food Processing; Food Safety and Quality Management; Process and Food Engineering
    • Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, or Oil Technology
    • Agricultural Science group: Agriculture; Agriculture Engineering; Biotechnology; Dairy Technology; Fisheries; Food Technology; Food Nutrition and Dietetic; Horticulture
    • Veterinary Sciences, Bio-Chemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Medicine
    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery, Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery, Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery, Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, or Bachelor of Sowa Rigpa Medicine and Surgery; or any other equivalent qualification notified by the Food Authority.
  • Successful completion of training as specified by the Food Authority in a recognized institute. This training is provided after appointment.
  • Hindi or Sanskrit as one of the subjects in Matriculation, or Hindi as one of the subjects in Higher Education.

Other Conditions:

  • No person with a financial interest in the manufacture, import, or sale of any food article can be appointed as Food Safety Officer.
  • Claims for equivalent qualification will only be considered if specified in the relevant Service Rules.

Age Limit

Candidates should be between 18 and 42 years of age as of 19.10.2026.

Age Relaxation:

Age relaxation is available for specific categories as per government rules:

The upper age limit for any category (except ex-servicemen) will not exceed 52 years, even after availing relaxations.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates will receive a Pay Scale of ₹9300–34800 + Grade Pay ₹4200, under FPL-6 (Cell-1). The initial basic pay will be ₹35,400/-.
