The recruitment is for one (01) position of Research Associate.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following essential qualifications to be considered for the Research Associate position:

• Educational Qualification: M.Tech or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering from a recognized university. Candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting their viva-voce are also eligible to apply.
• Research Experience: Demonstrated research experience in areas such as materials characterisation, metal additive manufacturing, laser cladding, hybrid surface deposition, or thermal/fluid characterisation of advanced engineering components.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience or theoretical knowledge in Directed Energy Deposition (DED), laser cladding, or advanced surface coating methods.
• Expertise in advanced material characterisation techniques like SEM, EDS, EBSD, XRD, and electrochemical or structural analysis of high-performance alloy interfaces.
• High proficiency in computational tools for engineering systems and multi-physics analysis (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, COMSOL, CFD packages).
• Peer-reviewed research publications in SCI/Scopus indexed journals focusing on specific areas related to 3D printing, superalloys, interfacial integrity, advanced materials, or simulations of propulsion/energy components.

Age Limit

The maximum age limit for the Research Associate post is 35 years. Age relaxation will be provided as per Government of India / DRDO norms for SC/ST/OBC/Women/PwD candidates.

Salary

The selected candidate will receive a consolidated salary of Rs. 35,000/- per month.

Note: The continuation and upgradation of the position are subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding, as per DRDO Project Staff Guidelines.

Selection Process

• Conducting microstructural audits across base-to-cladding deposit boundaries.
• Building multi-physics, CFD, or thermal models to predict and mitigate high-temperature structural degradation and residual stresses.
• Implementing benchmarking or validation schemes to map performance metrics under aggressive thermomechanical conditions.
• Authoring progress briefs, managing DRDO deliverables, and preparing technical publications.
