Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the Jharkhand Home Guard recruitment:

1. Residential Qualification:
  • Rural Home Guard: Applicants must be permanent residents of the block in Deoghar district from where they are applying. A self-attested residential certificate issued by a competent authority is required.
  • Urban Home Guard: Applicants must be general residents of the urban area of Deoghar district. A self-attested residential certificate issued by a competent authority is required.
2. Age Limit:

  • Chest (for Male only): 79 cm (General/OBC/BC), 76 cm (SC/ST)

A caste certificate issued by a competent authority is mandatory for any relaxation in physical standards.

5. Technical Proficiency (Only for Technically Skilled Urban Home Guard Candidates):

Candidates must possess skills in various technical fields and have experience or be self-employed in such areas. Examples include doctors, engineers, lawyers, professors, nurses, computer operators, typists, licensed drivers (HMV/LMV), cooks, carpenters, cobblers, washermen, barbers, electricians, gardeners, plumbers, etc. A certificate of technical proficiency issued by a competent authority is required.

Selection Process

The selection process will be conducted by a selection committee as per the guidelines of the Home Department, Government of Jharkhand. It includes the following stages:

a) Physical Efficiency Test:

This test includes a 1-mile run, high jump, long jump, and shot put. Marks will be awarded as follows:

  • For Rural Home Guards & Non-Technical Urban Home Guards:
    • 1 Mile Run: 20 marks (5 min or less for men, 8 min or less for women), 10 marks (5-6 min for men, 8-10 min for women). Exceeding these times leads to disqualification.
    • High Jump: Up to 10 marks based on height achieved.
    • Long Jump: Up to 10 marks based on distance achieved.
    • Shot Put: Up to 10 marks based on distance achieved (16 lbs).
  • For Technically Skilled Urban Home Guards:
    • 1 Mile Run: 20 marks (6 min or less for men, 8 min or less for women), 10 marks (6-8 min for men, 8-12 min for women). Exceeding these times leads to disqualification.
    • High Jump: Up to 10 marks based on height achieved.

b) Hindi Writing Ability Test:

Candidates who qualify in the Physical Efficiency Test will appear for this test. It assesses writing ability at the level of 7th class for Rural Home Guards and 10th class for Urban Home Guards. This is a qualifying test with 100 marks and a passing score of 30.

c) Technical Proficiency Test (Only for Technically Skilled Urban Home Guard Candidates):

Candidates who pass the Physical Efficiency Test and Hindi Writing Ability Test will undergo this test. This is a qualifying test with 100 marks and a passing score of 30.

d) Merit List Preparation:

After all tests are completed, a merit list will be prepared based on the provisions in the notification. Selection will be made against the available vacancies.

Selected candidates will undergo document verification, medical examination, and police character verification. Upon successful completion and favorable reports, they will be enrolled as Home Guards and undergo basic training as per the orders of the HQ Jharkhand Home Guard, Ranchi.

Additional Marks for Sports Achievements

Candidates who have received awards in National or State level sports competitions will be awarded additional marks:

  • First Place: 6 marks (National), 3 marks (State)
  • Second Place: 4 marks (National), 2 marks (State)
