The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar has released a notification for the recruitment of a Project Assistant. This is a temporary position for a government-sponsored research project in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. NIT Silchar is recruiting for the following post:

• Project Assistant: 01 Post

The duration of the project assistant post is 3 years or until the project is completed, whichever comes first. The extension of service will depend on a performance review conducted every 12 months.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the educational qualification and age limit requirements to be considered for this Project Assistant role.

Applicants should have:

• A B.Sc degree OR
• A Diploma in Engineering and Technology (minimum 3 years duration).

Desirable Experience: Experience in Python/CNC programming or any other programming language compatible with a 3D printer and 3D scanner module is preferred.

The maximum age limit for applicants is 45 years as on the last date of application, which is 25 August 2026.

Age relaxation will be provided as per Government of India rules for eligible categories.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates for the Project Assistant post will receive a monthly salary of:

• Rs. 20,000/- per month
• Additionally, candidates will be eligible for HRA (House Rent Allowance) up to a maximum of Rs. 2,000/- if accommodation is not availed in the Institute campus. HRA will be as per Project/Institute norms.

Selection Process

The selection for the Project Assistant position will be based on an interview.

• The Institute will first screen the applications received.
• Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview.
• The date, time, and mode (online/offline) of the interview will be communicated to shortlisted candidates via email.
• No Travel Allowance (TA) or Dearness Allowance (DA) will be paid for attending the interview or for joining the post.
• NIT Silchar reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for the interview. The Institute may also choose not to recruit any candidate if suitable applicants are not found.
