Panjab University has announced a recruitment for one Full-Time PhD Fellowship under the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics & IT – Phase II. This fellowship is funded by the Digital India Corporation, MeitY, Government of India, for the Academic Year 2026–27.

Financial Support Details

Selected candidates will receive financial support as follows:

• Fellowship: ₹46,250 per month for the 1st and 2nd year, and ₹52,500 per month for the 3rd to 5th year (or until PhD completion).
• Reimbursement of Rent (RoR): 16% of the monthly fellowship, which amounts to ₹7,400 per month in the 1st & 2nd year and ₹8,400 per month in the 3rd to 5th year.
• Research Contingency Grant: ₹1.20 lakh per year.
• International Conference Support: A one-time grant of ₹1.5 lakh.
• Visit to Labs Abroad: One-time support for a 6-month visit from the 3rd year, with a fellowship of ₹1.5 lakh per month and travel/visa support up to ₹1.5 lakh, as per scheme guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this PhD fellowship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Must fulfill the Panjab University PhD admission norms.
• Must be a fresh applicant for PhD admission in CSE, IT, or ECE at UIET for the Academic Year 2026–27.
• Must not have availed or be currently availing any other Central/State fellowship.
• Must obtain written consent from a UIET faculty supervisor from the eligible branches.
• Inter-departmental or institutional transfers are not permitted under this scheme.
