Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following educational qualifications and age limits to be eligible for the Telescope Operator Trainee position.

Candidates should have one of the following qualifications with 60% or more marks:

• M.Tech. in Physical Sciences, Astronomy, Applied Physics, or any other allied streams/specializations.
• B.Tech. in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Production, Computer Science, Instrumentation, or any other allied branch.
• M.Sc. in Physical Sciences, Applied Physics, Electronics, Astronomy, Instrumentation, or any other allied streams/specializations.

The age limit is set as follows, calculated as of 15 October 2026:

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 28 years

Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India rules.

Salary / Stipend

Selected candidates will receive a stipend of Rs. 28,000/- per month.

Selection Process

The selection process involves a Skill Test. Candidates are required to register online by the last date. Registered candidates must report for a verification process and the Skill Test on the specified date.

Skill Test: A Skill Test will be conducted on 15 October 2026. If the test cannot be completed on the same day, it may continue on 16 October 2026.

2. Complete the online registration by 30 September 2026, 5:30 PM.
3. Registered candidates must report at the Main Gate, Physical Research Laboratory, Hill View Bungalow, Gora Chhapara, Mount Abu, Sirohi-307501, Rajasthan on 15 October 2026 between 09:30 AM and 11:30 AM for verification and the Skill Test.
4. Candidates reporting after 11:30 AM will not be allowed to participate.

Documents Required

Candidates appearing for the Skill Test must bring the following:

• Self-attested copies of mark sheets and certificates.
• Two photographs for the offline verification form.
• Original certificates and their self-attested Xerox copies for date of birth, educational qualification, experience (if any), caste, and any other information provided in the online application.

Important Instructions

• The positions are purely temporary and do not guarantee permanent employment at PRL.
• Candidates who have already completed or are currently undergoing a similar traineeship at PRL are not eligible.
• Incomplete online applications will be rejected.
• Candidates are advised not to bring any electronic gadgets like mobile phones, laptops, etc., to the Skill Test venue.
• Outstation candidates shortlisted for the Skill Test may be eligible for Travelling Allowance as per rules, upon submission of tickets.
• PRL reserves the right to cancel the Skill Test process.
