Southern Railway Scouts and Guides Quota Recruitment 2026 Announced

Southern Railway has released a recruitment notification for candidates who are active members of Bharat Scouts & Guides. This recruitment is for Level-2 and Level-1 posts against the Scouts & Guides quota for the year 2026-27.

Job Highlights

Vacancy Details

A total of 17 vacancies are available under the Scouts and Guides Quota:

  • Level-1 Posts: 02 (Two)

Note: These posts are open to all candidates regardless of community, and there is no reservation for any specific community.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this recruitment, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be an active member of Bharat Scouts & Guides.
  • Must have been an active member of a Scouts organization for the last 5 years.
  • Must have attended two events at the National Level or All Indian Railway's level AND two events at the State Level.
  • The 'Certificate of Activeness' should be as per Annexure-'A' and details of events attended should be as per Annexure-'B' (as mentioned in the official notification).

Educational Qualification

The minimum educational qualifications required are:

  • For Level-2 and Level-1 Posts: Passed 12th (+2 stage) from a recognized board or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. (50% marks are not required for SC/ST/Ex-servicemen candidates for NTPC categories).
  • For Technician Categories (Level-1): Passed Matriculation from a recognized board plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship OR Passed Matriculation from a recognized board plus ITI approved by NCVT.
  • For Level-1 Posts: 10th pass OR ITI OR equivalent OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT OR 10th pass plus National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT OR 10th pass plus ITI.

Note: Specific categories within Level-2 and Level-1 posts, and the place of posting, will be decided by Southern Railway administration at the time of appointment.

Age Limit

The age limit for applicants is as follows:

Age Relaxation: Age relaxation is applicable for certain categories as per rules, including serving railway employees, widows/divorced women, and others. Specific details are available in the official notification.

Application Fee

Candidates applying for the posts have to pay a prescribed fee online. The fee is payable separately for both Level-2 and Level-1 categories if applying for both.

Salary / Pay Scale

The salary will be as per the 7th CPC pay matrix:

  • Level-2 Posts: Initial pay in 7th CPC
  • Level-1 Posts: Initial pay in 7th CPC

Selection Process

The selection process will involve the following stages:

  1. Written Test / Hybrid (CBT-cum-Physical) Exam: This exam will consist of 40 objective questions (40 marks) and 1 essay-type question (20 marks) related to Scouts & Guides organization, its activities, and General Knowledge. The exam will be conducted separately for Level-2 and Level-1 posts.
  2. Marks on Certificates: Marks will be awarded based on participation and service rendered in various Scout/Guide events at National, State, and All Indian Railways levels, as well as specialized courses and district rallies. A maximum of 100 marks can be obtained from certificates.

There will be negative marking in the Objective Type Test, with 1/3rd of the marks deducted for each wrong answer.

Minimum qualifying marks in the Written Test/Hybrid Exam for Level-2 posts are UR-40%, OBC/SC-30%, ST-25%. For Level-1 posts, the minimum qualifying marks are UR-40%, OBC/SC/ST-30%.

  • Signature (size 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm, JPG/JPEG format, 100 DPI, 10-40 kb file size) in English or Hindi, in running hand.
  • Self-attested/attested copies of relevant certificates for claiming age relaxation and exemption in examination fee.
  • Caste Certificate (as per prescribed format) for SC/ST/OBC candidates, wherever applicable.
  • Mark sheet or School Leaving Certificate indicating date of birth.

Important Instructions
