Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL), a subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited, has announced recruitment for Supervisor (Mechanical) positions on a contract basis. This notification is for Indian citizens interested in government sector jobs in Karnataka.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following educational and experience requirements to be eligible for the Supervisor (Mechanical) post.

• Essential:
  • A three-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a State Board of Technical Education.
  • OR
  • ITI (NTC) in Welding trade, Sheet metal worker trade, Bench fitter, Fitter trade, or Plumber trade from an institute recognized by NCVT/SCVT.
• Desirable: Post-diploma qualification in NDT will be an added advantage.

• For Diploma Holders: Minimum of Seven years post-qualification experience in Ship Building, Ship Repair, Engineering company, Offshore platform, Marine related Engineering company, or Government/Semi-Government Company/Establishment. Out of these seven years, a minimum of two years must be in a supervisory capacity.
• For ITI Holders: Minimum of fifteen years post-qualification experience in Ship Building, Ship Repair, Engineering company, Offshore platform, Marine related Engineering company, or Government/Semi-Government Company/Establishment. Out of these fifteen years, a minimum of three years must be in a supervisory capacity.

Experience acquired after the qualification passing date will only be considered. The post-qualification experience will be calculated as of 08 October 2026.

Age Limit

The upper age limit for the Supervisor (Mechanical) post should not exceed 45 years as of 08 October 2026. This means applicants should be born on or after 09 October 1981.

Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories:

• 3 years for OBC candidates.
• 5 years for SC/ST candidates (in posts reserved for them).

Age relaxation for Ex-servicemen will be as per Government of India guidelines. The maximum age limit after applying all relaxations should not exceed 55 years.

Application Fee

An application fee of ₹ 300/- (Non-refundable, plus bank charges extra) is required for all candidates except those belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST).

The fee can be paid online using Debit card, Credit card, or Internet Banking. SC/ST candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.

Salary / Pay Scale

The remuneration for the Supervisor (Mechanical) post is on a consolidated pay basis for a contract period of five years. The monthly consolidated pay is as follows:

Other benefits like Contributory Provident Fund, Medical Insurance Coverage, and Reimbursement of Medical expenses will be applicable as per the Udupi CSL Policy.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Supervisor (Mechanical) post will involve two phases:

1. Phase I: Written Test
   • Objective Type Test (40 Marks): 45 minutes duration, consisting of General Knowledge, General English, Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. There are no negative marks.
   • Descriptive Type Test (40 Marks): 90 minutes duration, comprising discipline-related questions.
2. Phase II: Power Point Presentation (20 Marks) on work experience.

Candidates need to secure minimum pass marks in Phase I tests. The descriptive test answer sheets will be evaluated only for those who pass the objective test. UCSL may relax minimum pass marks if the number of qualified candidates is insufficient. Candidates shortlisted after Phase I will undergo certificate verification before being called for Phase II.
