Vacancy Details

A total of 12,405 vacancies are available for Assistant Teacher posts. These are divided into two categories:

• Assistant Teacher, Primary, Urban: 11,508 posts (district-wise across 75 UP districts)
• Assistant Teacher, Sambaddh Primary (Non-Government Aided Schools): 897 posts (473 for boys' schools + 424 for girls' schools)

The number of vacancies may change.

Horizontal reservations include 429 posts for Persons with Disabilities, 97 for Dependents of Freedom Fighters, and 540 for Ex-Servicemen.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• For Assistant Teacher, Primary, Urban: A graduate degree from a recognised university and a Government-recognised training qualification such as Basic Teacher Certificate (B.T.C.), D.El.Ed., or equivalent. Must have qualified the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).
• For Assistant Teacher, Sambaddh Primary (Aided Schools): A graduate degree from a recognised university, a B.T.C. or D.L.Ed. from an NCTE-recognised course, and must have qualified the TET for Classes 1 to 5.

• Assistant Teacher, Primary, Urban: Minimum 21 years, Maximum 40 years.
• Assistant Teacher, Sambaddh Primary: Minimum 21 years.

Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per UP government rules. For UP's SC, ST, OBC candidates, there is a 5-year relaxation in the maximum age limit. PwBD candidates get a 15-year relaxation. Ex-Servicemen get a 3-year relaxation.

The birth date on the High School certificate will be considered final.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates will receive a salary as per Level-6 of the pay matrix:

• Assistant Teacher, Primary, Urban: ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400
• Assistant Teacher, Sambaddh Primary: ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected based on their performance in a Written Examination. The exam is scheduled for 3 & 4 December 2026.
