Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following educational and age requirements:

• Post Graduate Degree / DM / DNB or Diploma in the concerned specialty from a university recognized by the State/Central Government.
• If candidates with PG qualification are not available, those without PG qualification but with at least three years of experience after MBBS, including one year of Junior Residency in a Government hospital in the concerned specialty, can be considered for a period of one year. This is subject to fresh selection processes being conducted annually.
• For Diploma holders, a minimum of 2 years of Post Diploma experience in the specialty is required.
• As per NBE criteria, candidates should have passed MD/DNB/Diploma within 60 months from the date of application.

• Upper Age Limit: 40 years for candidates with a Post Graduate qualification.
• Age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC/ST candidates.
• The Railway may relax the age limit above 40 years in specific specialties where it is difficult to find Senior Residents, with the approval of the General Manager. This relaxation will be considered only if no candidates meet the age limit of 40 years (PG/DM).

Salary / Pay Scale

Emoluments for Senior Residents with a post-graduate degree will be:

• Basic Pay: Rs. 67,700/-
• NPA: 20% of Basic
• DA: 28% (Basic + NPA)
• Additional allowances include Transportation, HRA (if not staying in Railway Quarters), and other allowances as per Railway Board guidelines.
