Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following educational qualifications and experience requirements:

• Certificate of competency as Master Foreign Going holder with at least six months of experience as Chief Officer.
• OR Certificate of competency as Dredger Master Gr I with 2 years of experience on Dredgers.
• OR Certificate of competency as Master NCV with 2 years of experience on Dredgers.
• OR Officers who have held the rank of Lieutenant Commander or Commander in the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy, with a minimum of seven years of sea service, and possess a valid Certificate of Competency and/or Certificate of Service, wherever applicable, as Master Foreign Going.

Retired Officers from Cochin Port or other Government organizations meeting the above requirements are also eligible.

Age Limit

The upper age limit for this position is 64 years as of the crucial date. This limit applies to both fresh applicants and retired officers.

Salary / Pay Scale

The selected Dredger Commander will receive a consolidated salary based on their certification:

• Rs. 1,40,000/- per month for Master FG holders.
• Rs. 1,20,000/- per month for NCV certificate holders.

Additionally, candidates will be paid a lump sum amount of Rs. 5000/- for every four hours of additional duty beyond the normal 8 hours of dredging duty.

If the contract is renewed, the Dredger Commander will be eligible for a 3% increment on the last consolidated salary per year. Remuneration will be regulated as per Government of India norms.

Selection Process

The selection process involves the following stages:

1. Shortlisting: Cochin Port Authority may shortlist candidates based on eligibility criteria. In case of a large number of applications, shortlisting will be based on higher/additional qualifications, length, and range of experience.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview.
