A total of 05 vacancies are available for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following educational and age requirements to be eligible for the JRF position:

Applicants must possess:

• A B.E./B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering with a valid GATE score in the relevant discipline, obtained in the first division. GATE scores from the years 2021, 2025, and 2026 are acceptable.
• OR
• An M.E./M.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering, obtained in the first division at both graduate and postgraduate levels.

The upper age limit for candidates is 28 years as on the date of the interview. Age relaxation is provided as follows:

• 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
• 3 years for OBC (Non-creamy layer) candidates.

Stipend / Salary

Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 37,000/- per month, plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) as admissible.

Selection Process

The selection process will involve the following stages:

1. Document Verification: Candidates' documents will be verified.
2. Written Test: A written test will be conducted after document scrutiny.
3. Interview: Candidates who qualify in the written test will appear for an interview.

A panel will be prepared, and future vacancies may be filled from this panel for a period of one year.

2. Send Willingness by Email: Eligible candidates must send their willingness to attend the walk-in-interview via email to kapilpuraswani.vrde@gov.in by 27 September 2026. The subject line of the email must be "Application for the post of Junior Research Fellowship".
3. Attend Walk-in Interview: Candidates are required to report at VRDE, PO-Vahan Nagar, Ahilyanagar-414006 (Maharashtra) as per the schedule. Applications will be accepted from 09:30 AM to 11:00 AM on 06 October 2026. Latecomers will not be allowed to participate.
4. Required Documents: Candidates must bring a duly filled application form, attested copies of certificates/testimonials (qualification, experience, caste), and original certificates for verification. A recent passport-size photograph must be affixed to the application form. Candidates employed in government departments/PSUs/Autonomous bodies must produce a No-Objection Certificate. A government-issued photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card/PAN card/Passport) is also required.

Carrying electronic items like mobile phones, pen drives, laptops, or smartwatches is strictly prohibited inside the VRDE campus.

Important Instructions

• The number of fellowships may increase or decrease based on organizational requirements.
• The Director, VRDE reserves the right to amend, modify, or cancel the advertisement or selection at any time without assigning any reason.
• Antecedents of selected candidates will be verified at the time of joining. Any deficiency in documents will lead to automatic cancellation of candidature.
• The decision of the selection committee will be final.
• No TA/DA will be admissible for attending the interview or joining.
• Offer of Fellowship does not confer any right for absorption in DRDO.
