Vacancy Details
East Coast Railway is engaging Act Apprentices for 1,599 posts in various designated trades. These training slots are distributed across different units and trades within ECoR.
Candidates should refer to Annexure 'A' of the official notification for detailed trade-wise and category-wise vacancy breakdowns, including reservations for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the age and educational qualification requirements as specified below:
Age Limit (as on 15/09/2026)- Minimum Age: 15 years
- Maximum Age: 24 years
The upper age limit is relaxed for certain categories:
- SC/ST Candidates: 5 years
- OBC Candidates: 3 years
- Persons with Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years
- Ex-Servicemen: 10 years plus service rendered in Defense Forces plus 3 years, provided they have put in a minimum of 6 months service.
- Children of Ex-Servicemen: Same age relaxation as per their community.
- Matriculation: Applicants must have passed 10th Class (Matriculation) under the 10+2 examination system with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board.
- Technical Qualification: Applicants must possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade, affiliated to NCVT/Academic certificate, as per the Apprentice Act 1961.
- For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology) Post: Candidates must be 12th pass (under 10+2 system) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, with a minimum of 50% marks in both 10th and 12th.
- Important Note: Applicants whose SSC or ITI results are awaited as on 21/08/2026 are not eligible. Engineering graduates and diploma holders are also not eligible.
Application Fee
The application fee is ₹100/- (non-refundable).
The fee must be paid online only through the payment gateway integrated with the online application process on the RRC/BBS website.
Stipend / Pay Scale
This recruitment is for engagement as Act Apprentices. The stipend for apprentices will be paid as per the rules and regulations of the Apprentices Act, 1961.
Candidates who complete apprenticeship training in Railway establishments and hold a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) will be given preference for up to 20% of the vacancies in future direct recruitment to Level-1 posts (Pay Scale: ₹18,000 – ₹56,900) in Railways, subject to fulfilling other eligibility criteria.
Selection Process
The selection of candidates for Act Apprentice training will be based on academic merit.
- A merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in Matriculation (10th Class) and ITI.
- Candidates will be shortlisted strictly based on their academic merit and the order of preference for Unit-Department-Trade exercised in their application.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification (DV) at the Headquarters of East Coast Railway.
- A candidate will be considered for only one combination of Unit-Department-Trade based on merit and preference.
