Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the specific educational and experience requirements for each post.

Project Manager (02 Posts)
  • Essential Qualification: Postgraduate degree in Conservation/Archaeology/ Heritage Management/ History.
  • Experience: Minimum five years of professional experience in the conservation and management of Ladakhi heritage, including wall paintings, Thangka paintings, traditional architecture, museum & heritage documentation. Proven experience in handling and implementing conservation projects in Ladakh and high-altitude regions is required.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Experience in planning and implementing heritage conservation projects in the Himalayan region, proven managerial and team leadership skills, experience in preparing detailed project reports, documentation, and capacity-building programmes, familiarity with community-based conservation approaches and traditional knowledge systems of Ladakh, and experience in coordinating multidisciplinary conservation projects and liaising with government departments, monasteries, and local communities.
Project Coordinator (01 Post)
  • Essential Qualification: Postgraduate degree in Conservation/Archaeology / Heritage Management.
  • Experience: Minimum three years of experience in heritage conservation projects, documentation, archaeological fieldwork, or project coordination.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Experience in conservation of wall paintings, Thangka paintings, and museum collections. Experience in report writing, documentation, and field coordination. Ability to work with local communities and government departments.
Assistant (12 Posts)
  • Essential Qualification: Senior secondary.
  • Essential Skills: Practical skills in one or more of the following areas are mandatory: Darning and stitching of historic textiles, Book Binding and stitching, Sewing and handling of traditional fabrics, Thangka conservation and mounting techniques, Basic preventive conservation and handling of heritage objects.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Experience in traditional crafts and conservation-related activities in Ladakh. Knowledge of local materials and traditional artistic techniques. Willingness to undertake fieldwork in remote areas of Ladakh.

Age Limit

The age limits for the posts are as follows, to be calculated as on December 2026:

  • Project Manager: 40 years
  • Project Coordinator: 40 years
  • Assistant: 50 years

Salary / Pay Scale

The remuneration for the selected candidates will depend on their performance in the interview and practical test. The details are:

  • Project Manager: Rs. 70,000 - Rs. 80,000 per month
  • Project Coordinator: Rs. 70,000 - Rs. 80,000 per month
  • Assistant: Rs. 25,000 - Rs. 30,000 per month

The appointment is initially for a period of one year, extendable based on project requirements and satisfactory performance.

Selection Process

The selection process for these positions will be based on a walk-in interview. For the Assistant post, a practical test will also be conducted.

  • For Project Manager and Project Coordinator: Walk-in interview.
  • For Assistant: Practical test and interview.

The interview and practical test will be held at the IGNCA Centre, Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museum, UT Ladakh.
