IIT BHU Recruitment 2026: Project Associate & Assistant Positions Announced
The Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi has released a recruitment notice for Project Associate I and Project Assistant roles. Job Highlights

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the essential qualifications for the respective posts.
Project Associate IEssential Qualifications:
- Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science, OR
- Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Engineering / Professional Course.
Selection for this post should be through one of the following processes:
- Candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests like GATE and CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship/Assistant Professorship).
- Selection through national level examinations conducted by IIT (BHU) Varanasi.
Essential Qualifications:
- Graduate/ Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science/Engineering.
Age Limit
The upper age limit for both Project Associate I and Project Assistant positions is 50 years. The service duration should not extend beyond 60 years of age.
Salary / Pay Scale
Monthly emoluments are as follows:
- Project Associate I: ₹37,000/- + 20% HRA (for those selected through GATE/CSIR-UGC NET or IIT BHU conducted exams).
- Project Associate I: ₹30,000/- + 20% HRA (for others).
- Project Assistant: ₹27,000/- + 20% HRA.
Selection Process
