Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following educational qualifications and other essential requirements by the last date of application:

For most Assistant Professor posts, candidates need:

• A Master's degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in a concerned, relevant, or allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• NET/SET/Ph.D. Requirement:
  • NET (National Eligibility Test) is compulsory for candidates with Post-Graduate Degrees.
  • For candidates belonging to the UT of J&K who are not NET qualified, SET (State Eligibility Test) is compulsory.
  • Candidates with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned subject, in compliance with UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 (with amendments), are exempted from the NET/SET requirement. Specific conditions apply for Ph.D. degrees awarded prior to July 11, 2009.

Specific Qualifications for Certain Posts:

• Assistant Professor, Bio-Informatics: PG level with at least 55% marks in Bioinformatics/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Clinical Biochemistry.
• Assistant Professor, Centre of Central Asian Studies (Archaeology): Master's degree with 55% marks in Culture & Archaeology/ Archaeology or History with PG Diploma in Archaeology.

• Assistant Professor, Department of Geo-Informatics: PG level with at least 55% marks in Geoinformatics/ GIS/Remote Sensing or Applied Geology with PG Diploma in Remote Sensing.
• Assistant Professor, Home Science: PG level with at least 55% marks in Home Science with specialization in Dietetics & Clinical Nutrition.
• Assistant Professor, Iqbal Institute of Culture & Philosophy: PG level with at least 55% marks in Urdu/ Philosophy. Candidates must also have substantiated research in Iqbal Studies, with preference given to Ph.D. holders in Iqbal Studies.
