A total of One (01) vacancy is available for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at NIT Warangal.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the educational qualifications and age limit as specified in the notification.
Educational QualificationCandidates should possess one of the following qualifications:
- B.Tech./B.E. in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Aerospace Engineering / Materials Engineering; OR
- M.E./M.Tech. in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or relevant specialization.
For the above qualifications, candidates must have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG levels for General/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS categories, and a minimum of 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD categories. GATE score is not mandatory.
- B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering / Mechanical Engineering with a minimum CGPA of 7.5/10 or 70% for General/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL, and a minimum CGPA of 7.0/10 or 65% for SC/ST/PwD. GATE score is not mandatory.
- M.Sc. in Physics/Chemistry/Materials Science/Electronics/Nanoscience and Nanotechnology with M.Tech. in Materials Science/ Metallurgy/ Nanoscience and Nanotechnology/Ceramic Engineering/Surface Engineering.
For this qualification, candidates need a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG levels for General/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL categories, and a minimum of 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD categories. GATE score is not mandatory.
- M.Sc. in Physics/Chemistry/Materials Science/Polymer/Electronics/Nanoscience and Nanotechnology/Ceramic Engineering/Surface Engineering and relevant area.
For this qualification, candidates need a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG levels (wherever applicable) for General/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL categories, and a minimum of 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD categories. GATE score is not mandatory.
Desirable Qualification: Preference will be given to candidates qualified in GATE/UGC/CSIR/INSPIRE/NET or any other relevant national-level examination, with prior experience in alloy casting and deformation processing (e.g., rolling/extrusion), and knowledge of characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, and XRD.
Age Limit
The age limit for applicants is as follows, as on the commencement date of the notification:
- General/GEN-EWS: 30 years
- OBC-NCL: 33 years
- SC/ST/PwD/Female candidates: 35 years
Salary / Emoluments
The selected candidate will receive a monthly emolument as follows:
- ₹37,000/- per month for the first 2 years
- ₹42,000/- per month for the third year
HRA will be provided as per Government rules applicable to NIT Warangal. Selected candidates are also eligible for on-campus hostel and mess facilities, subject to availability.
Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview, which may be conducted online or offline.
No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

- The job nature involves procurement of consumables, vacuum arc melting of alloys, specimen preparation, conducting mechanical tests, sample preparation for microstructural characterization, documentation and analysis of experimental results, preparation of technical reports, writing research articles, and travelling within India as required.
