Background: CAPF AC 2024 Original Result & Reserve List

To understand the significance of this reserve list release, it helps to know the sequence of events since the original CAPF AC 2024 result was declared. The original result was published via a press note on 13 June 2025, recommending 459 candidates in the order of merit for appointment as Assistant Commandants. In accordance with Rule 16(4) and (5) of the Central Armed Police Forces (ACs) Examination, 2024 Rules, UPSC also maintained a Reserve List in merit order below the last recommended candidate. This reserve list was originally drawn up with 112 candidates (56 General, 12 EWS, 37 OBC, 3 SC, 4 ST). However, following a change in the category of one OBC candidate to General, the consolidated reserve list was subsequently revised downward to 110 candidates (55 General, 12 EWS, 36 OBC, 3 SC, 4 ST).

Over and above the original 459 candidates, UPSC has now recommended 4 more candidates for appointment to the post of Assistant Commandant. This addition is in direct compliance with the judgment dated 10 December 2025 of the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi in WP(C) No. 8304/2025 and connected matters.
