NLC India Limited (NLCIL) is offering a total of 163 apprenticeship training slots at its Barsingsar Project. These slots are distributed across four main apprentice categories. It's important for candidates to apply only for the category and trade/discipline for which they are genuinely qualified, as applications for other trades will not be considered.

The total 163 training slots are broken down as follows:

• ITI/Trade Apprentices: 86 slots
• Diploma/Technician Apprentices: 42 slots
• Graduate (Engineering) Apprentices: 31 slots
• Graduate (Non-Engineering) Apprentices: 4 slots

Within these categories, specific trades and disciplines are available. For ITI/Trade Apprentices, the trades include Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Horticulture, Wireman, Plumber, Refrigeration & Air Conditioner Technician, and Mechanic Motor Vehicle. For Diploma/Technician Apprentices, disciplines are Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Fire & Safety Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mine Surveying. Graduate (Engineering) Apprentices can apply for Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Fire & Safety Engineering. Lastly, Graduate (Non-Engineering) Apprentices are sought for B.Com and BBA disciplines.

Reservation Details:

Reservation policies are applied as per government guidelines:

• For ITI/Trade Apprentices, 50% of the slots are reserved for candidates who passed out from Rajiv Gandhi ITI, Barsingsar. The remaining 50% are open to all other eligible candidates.
• For Diploma and Graduate Apprenticeships, 40% of the slots are reserved for Wards of Project Affected Persons (PAP) of Barsingsar Project, and 10% are reserved for Wards of Employees of NLCIL. The remaining 50% are open competition seats.

Additionally, category-wise reservations (UR/EWS/OBC/SC/ST) and horizontal reservations for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are applied within each of these pools, strictly adhering to the Apprentices Act and Government of India guidelines. Candidates should ensure they select their correct category during application to avail applicable reservations.

Eligibility

Understanding the eligibility criteria is the first and most crucial step before applying. NLCIL has set clear conditions regarding educational qualifications, age, domicile, and prior experience. Ensure you meet all these requirements to avoid disqualification.

Age Limit

Selection Process

The selection for the NLC Barsingsar Apprenticeship is designed to be transparent and merit-based, focusing primarily on academic performance. Unlike many government recruitments, there will be no written examination or interview for this apprenticeship. This means your marks in your qualifying examination are paramount.

Explanation of Each Stage:

• Merit List Preparation: Your performance in your final qualifying examination is the sole determinant for selection. For ITI/Trade Apprentices, the percentage of marks scored across all subjects in the ITI (NCVT) examination will be considered. Diploma/Technician Apprentices will be ranked by their Diploma percentage. Graduate (Engineering) Apprentices will be ranked by their B.E./B.Tech. percentage, and Graduate (Non-Engineering) Apprentices by the average percentage across all semesters of their B.Com/BBA degree. It is crucial to accurately report your marks.

• CGPA/Grade Conversion: If your result is in CGPA or grade form, the percentage will be derived by multiplying the CGPA by a factor of 10. However, if your university or institution has its own official conversion formula, that formula will be used. Ensure you use the correct conversion method.

• Tie-Breaking Rule: In situations where two or more candidates have the exact same percentage of marks at the cut-off level, the candidate who is older (i.e., has an earlier date of birth) will be given preference. This ensures a fair resolution for tied scores.

• Certificate Verification: Candidates who are provisionally shortlisted based on their merit will be called for a certificate verification round. This is a critical stage where all your original documents, including educational certificates, domicile, and category certificates, will be checked against the information provided in your application. The tentative dates for this are 27th to 28th August 2026. Any discrepancy or failure to produce required documents will lead to disqualification.

• Final Selection: Only after successful completion of the certificate verification process will the final list of selected candidates be displayed, tentatively on 1st September 2026. Selected candidates will then be called for joining, expected in the 1st week of September 2026.

Salary

As this is an apprenticeship program, candidates will receive a monthly stipend rather than a full salary. The stipend amounts are fixed and vary based on the apprenticeship category.
