NRCB Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Overview

Vacancy Details

There are 20 apprentice vacancies available at ICAR-NRCB. The posts are divided into Graduate Apprentices and Technician Apprentices as follows:

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for the NRCB Apprentice positions:

• Graduate Apprentices: A Degree in Biotechnology, Botany, Life Science, Agriculture, Horticulture, Biochemistry, Chemistry, BCA, or Computer Science. The degree must be regular, full-time, and granted by a statutory or Deemed University approved by UGC.
• Technician Apprentices: A Diploma in Agriculture or Horticulture. The diploma must be regular, full-time, and granted by a statutory or Deemed University approved by UGC.

• Candidates must have passed their Graduate or Diploma examination only in the years 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026.
• Mandatory registration on the MHRD NATS Portal (www.mhrdnats.gov.in) is required before applying.

• Candidates who have already completed or are currently undergoing an apprenticeship under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973 are NOT eligible.
• Candidates with one year or more of prior work experience are also NOT eligible.

Age Limit

The age limit for candidates will be as per the applicable Apprenticeship rules. A specific numeric age limit is not stated in the official notification.

Stipend

Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend during their apprenticeship training:

• Graduate Apprentice: ₹12,300 per month
• Technician (Diploma) Apprentice: ₹10,900 per month

Note: No Travel Allowance (TA) or Daily Allowance (DA) will be paid for attending certificate verification. Boarding or lodging expenses are also not admissible.

Selection Process

The selection of both Graduate and Technician Apprentices will be based purely on merit. This merit will be determined by the aggregate marks obtained by the candidate in their respective Graduate or Diploma examinations.

Preference will be given to children of employees of the host establishment (NRCB). This preference is given in the order of children of deceased employees, medically invalidated employees, superannuated employees, and then serving employees.

A final rank list will be prepared category-wise (General / SC / ST / OBC) after certificate verification. This verification will be conducted jointly by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR) and officials of ICAR – NRC for Banana, Tiruchirappalli.

How to Apply

Candidates must apply online through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal. Before applying for this specific vacancy, candidates must register on the NATS portal.

1. Register on NATS Portal: If you are not already registered, visit the NATS portal and complete the student registration. You will receive a unique 12-digit Enrolment Number (ATN).
2. Login: Log in to the NATS portal using your registered email ID and password.
