South Eastern Railway has announced a total of 10 vacancies under the Scouts & Guides Quota for the year 2026-27. The vacancies are distributed as follows:

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet both the educational and the specific Scouts & Guides qualification requirements to be eligible for this recruitment.

Educational Qualification For Level-2 Posts (Group C):
  • Passed 12th (+2 stage) or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized board.
  • The 50% marks requirement is not applicable for SC, ST, ESM, PwBD candidates and those with higher qualifications from UGC recognized universities.
  • Alternatively, candidates can have passed 10th from a recognized board plus a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) / ITI approved by NCVT.
For Level-1 Posts (Erstwhile Group D):
  • 10th Pass or ITI or equivalent qualification.
  • National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.
Scouts & Guides Qualification (Mandatory for both Level-1 and Level-2 posts)
  • Must be a President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger OR a Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) holder in any section.
  • Must have been an active member of a Scouts Organization for the last 5 years.
  • Should have attended at least two National Level or All Indian Railways level events and two State Level events.

Age Limit

The age limit will be calculated as of 01 January 2027.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Scouts & Guides Quota posts will involve the following stages:

  1. Written Test: This test will assess knowledge related to Scouts and Guides organization, activities, and General Knowledge. It will consist of 40 objective questions (40 marks) and one essay-type question (20 marks), totaling 60 marks. The duration will be 60 minutes. There will be negative marking of one-third marks for each incorrect objective answer.
  2. Marks on Certificates: Candidates will be awarded marks based on their Scouts & Guides activities, such as participation in national events, state events, specialized courses, and district rallies. This component carries 40 marks.
  3. Document Verification: Eligible candidates will undergo verification of their documents.
  4. Medical Examination: Candidates will be required to pass a medical examination.

The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined marks obtained in the written test and the Scouts & Guides certificates.
